7 Humbling Prayers to Confess to God this Monday

To grow in the knowledge of God, we must know the importance of coming to Him with a humble heart. This Monday, take time to confess to Him all Your sins, doubts, and shortcomings. Set aside your pride, learn to reflect, and let Him govern Your life with these simple prayers.

Prayer of confession for being a complainer

Father in Heaven, I admit that I have been ungrateful for a lot of things. You’ve blessed me with so much more than what I deserve, yet I fail to see them because I complain over the smallest things. There’s not a day that I don’t grumble because of my dissatisfaction. This Monday, I am humbly asking for Your forgiveness for my ungrateful heart. I am sorry for all the times I became too blinded by the pleasures of the world.

So please cleanse my heart, and let me see what You are blessing me with. Help me appreciate the life You have given me. I want to live my life with so much gratitude in my heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Philippians 2:14-16 Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

Hebrews 13:5-6 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

Prayer of confession for disobeying God

God, I have been living my life on my own terms. In fact, there are a lot of times when I feel like I do not need to consult You first because I think I know everything and I know what is best for me. But Heavenly Father, I am wrong and I am deeply sorry for not keeping Your commandments.

Please help me realize that if I truly love You, I will always choose to obey You. On days that I am stubborn, please break my heart for what breaks Yours, so that I will learn to follow You. This Monday and for the rest of my days, may I always obey You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

John 14:15 If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

Luke 6:46 Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?

Prayer of confession for not becoming a good example

Lord Jesus, I am sorry for causing others to fall spiritually because of my example. I have not been living my life according to Your will. I know I should bring them closer to You, but instead, I became a stumbling block. I am now repenting. And although I am imperfect, I should keep in mind that I have to be more responsible for my actions because I am now known as one of Your followers.

Remind me that I am to model Christlikeness wherever I go and with whomever I’m with. Please help me become a better example of Your love this Monday. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Titus 2:7 Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity,

James 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Prayer of confession for saying hurtful words

Lord Almighty, I am sorry for not being a good example in my speech. I say words that are not good for building people up. I do not realize that there is power in my tongue. I also admit that I am not gracious with what comes out of my mouth, may it be intentional or unintentional. And so, I am asking for Your forgiveness, God.

Please help me to only speak words that are acceptable in Your sight. Lord, I pray that this Monday, I will constantly speak life to the people around me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Matthew 12:37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.

Prayer of confession for not being a good steward

Heavenly Father, I know that You have blessed me with gifts that I can use to honor You. But this Monday, I confess that I have not been a good steward of these gifts. I often forget that I am to glorify You with these talents, resources, and skills. I also admit that I do not use them to serve others because I only serve myself. I am sorry.

Father, help me to be a good steward of what You have entrusted me with. Please remove the laziness and selfishness that are causing me to stumble. In Jesus’ name, amen.

1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy.

1 Peter 4:10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace:

Prayer of confession for having an unforgiving heart

Lord, I confess that I have been harboring anger, bitterness, and hatred in my heart. Because of this, it becomes harder for me to have a forgiving heart. And this is not what You want me to do and not what You have designed me to be. I am sorry and I am now repenting.

This Monday, God, please help me realize that forgiveness is necessary so that I can have peace in my heart, peace with others, and peace with You. Because You have forgiven me first through Jesus Christ, and I am now to demonstrate this to others as well. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Colossians 3:13 Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

Ephesians 4:26-27 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.

Prayer of confession for having idols

Jesus, I come to You this Monday with a sincere and repentant heart. I have made idols for myself and I have treasured all these earthly pleasures that are taking Your place in my heart. I confess that I have been making them my gods. So I am asking for your forgiveness.

Now, Lord Jesus, I am making You the Lord of my life again. Please govern my heart, soul, and mind. Give me a heart that knows nothing but to honor and glorify You always in all ways. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me.

Colossians 3:5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
