The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7
God, You are my Father. Teach me to live as a true child of light. Teach me to understand who am I as a new creation in Christ, one whose sins are forgiven. Teach me to know the way of life as I walk with You day by day.
I pray that I will learn to have that genuine fear of the Lord in my heart. Help me understand who You really are as the Lord of my life. I pray that my eyes will look upon You with deep reverence for You are God alone.
May Your wisdom overflow in me as I learn to fear You with a godly fear. I pray for such wisdom to be the one that comes from heaven – pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. May this wisdom lead me to live a holy life all the time.
I pray that I will never find any courage to disobey You in any way. I pray that I will take Your instructions seriously and fearfully. I pray that I learn to hate evil and detest sin. Even when I am severely tempted, I pray that I will remain with my commitment to submit to You.
May I always live my life in complete humility before You. May I always acknowledge that You are in authority, that You hold the highest position in my life. May I remain constantly glad as I do Your will.
Lord, please take away any rebellious attitude in me. Purify my heart and mold it to be as gold or silver. My heart’s one desire is to be holy and pleasing before You. Set me apart to serve You alone.
I declare that You alone are my master. You are my King and I am Your servant. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
