Living Out God’s Will

โ€œShow me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.โ€ Psalm 25:4-5

It is impossible to honor God without obeying His commands. Living the Christian life requires us to follow His Word. However, it is not always easy. We will be faced with struggles along the way. And often, obedience to God requires us to sacrifice something to gain something better.

We cannot live out Godโ€™s Will by relying on our own power and strength. We cannot do this alone. That is why the Lord promises us to be with us along the way, but we must fulfill our responsibilities. Our responsibilities include renewing our minds, resisting temptations, obeying His Word, and letting God take complete control of our life.

Pray to renew your mind

โ€œDo not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Godโ€™s will isโ€”his good, pleasing and perfect will.โ€ Romans 12:2

We are called to walk with God, not follow what is popular in the world. This will only be made possible when we set our minds to follow God regardless of what is acceptable in society. We will see that His Will is always good, pleasing, and perfect by renewing our minds.

Father in Heaven, I admit that Iโ€™ve been compromising my faith for the sake of being happy and accepted. Please forgive me. Today, I am deciding to follow You. I pray to renew my mind as I seek for what is good in Your eyes. I want to be transformed from the inside out. In Jesusโ€™ name, amen.

Pray to resist temptations

โ€œAnd lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.โ€ Matthew 6:13

Being tempted does not make us any less of a follower of God. It just means that God is working in our lives, and the enemy is trying to win us over. Temptations will only lead to sin if we allow them to take control of our lives. That is why we need to ask God to help us resist the pleasures of this world.

Heavenly Father, thank You because You have been working in my life. Please help me overcome temptations in my life that will cause me to sin against You. Please help me not to choose the path where I will be tempted. Instead, please help me not put myself in a situation where I am tempted to sin. In Jesusโ€™ name, amen.

Pray to obey His Word

โ€œAnd this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.โ€ 2 John 1:6

Many times in our walk with God, we choose what we only want to obey. We are selective of His commands. This means that we only want to follow what is convenient for us at the moment. But selective obedience is still disobedience. Be reminded that we are called to do all His commands, even if it means sacrificing our desires.

Almighty God, I am sorry for not obeying You at all times. My disobedience has been causing me a life that is not glorifying You. I pray that I will choose to obey all Your commands. Please allow the Holy Spirit to work within me. Help me follow You all the days of my life. Thank You that You love me, and You want me to live an abundant life. In Jesusโ€™ name, amen.

Pray to surrender everything

โ€œTherefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Godโ€™s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Godโ€”this is your true and proper worship.โ€ Romans 12:1

When we offer ourselves to God, we must surrender every right we have. We must surrender all our desires and live a holy life. We cannot worship God just by praying and attending church on Sundays. True and proper worship to Him requires surrender. The more we let go of our desires, the more we become like Jesus.

Lord, I praise and worship You. Please remove every ounce of selfishness in my heart. Break my heart for what breaks Yours. Help me live my life according to Your will and not mine. I admit that I tend to become entitled, but I know that I can live a life that is holy and pleasing to You through Your power. I submit to You my life. In Jesusโ€™ name, amen.
