Prayer for Surrendering Rights

Lord Jesus, I have been in control of my life. I have not yet fully surrendered my life to You. There are still areas in my life that I havenโ€™t given up yet. Please forgive me for this. Forgive me for failing to trust You. And because of this, I am easily worried, easily irritated, easily hurt, and easily broken.

I realize now that You are indeed faithful in all ways. Thank You because I know that I serve a God who is a promise-keeper. Please remove every ounce of selfishness in my heart that always longs to be fulfilled. Destroy every self-entitlement thatโ€™s been robbing my peace and joy.

Jesus, thank You that You died on the cross for my sins. As You said in the Scripture, he who wants to be Your disciple must learn to deny oneself, take up their cross daily, and follow You. I admit that this is very difficult to do, given my selfish nature, but this is possible for me to fulfill in Your name and through Your power.

Please help me deny myself and deny my ungodly desires. Help me seek other peopleโ€™s highest good, even if it means putting myself last. Help me serve them in the best way I can because that is what You did. You came to seek and save the lost. You offered Your life for the ransom of many.

I pray that I will carry my cross daily and follow You. Help me realize that I am no longer to live for myself but for You who loved me enough to die for me. I pray that I will live a life that honors Your own interest, a life that seeks only for Your name to be glorified, a life that does anything You say. Jesus, help me live for You.

Thank You, God, for the privilege of serving You. Please continue to grant me the joy of living for You and with You. I honor and worship You. In Jesusโ€™ name, amen.
