God’s Plans Over Our Plans

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21

Everything that we do now will dictate the outcome of our plans in the future. We may have already planned what we want to achieve or gain, but the Lord will always have the final say. Part of our nature is to plan and prepare things ahead of time. Some of these plans may be foolish, but some may be wise. Whatever it is, it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

It is very humbling how our plans are just mere plans compared to what God has in store for us, whether it may be our life here on earth or our eternal life with Him. When making any decisions, we must never leave Him out of the equation. In fact, He should be our top priority. May we always remember that our desire to have a good and purposeful life is something that God also wants for us a thousand times more.

Pray to seek God’s Will

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

God loves us so much to allow anything to harm us or eventually hurt us. God’s omniscience is something way beyond our understanding. So if we seek His will and not our pleasures, we can be secured because God has the best plans for us.

Heavenly Father, thank you because You have better plans for me than I have for myself. Thank You because Your plans will protect and prosper me. Please help me follow Your instructions. Help me resist the temptations of compromising my obedience for You. Help me constantly seek Your will with all I have and all I am. Help me live a life that honors You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Pray to have wisdom

“Be very careful, then, how you liveโ€”not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:15-16

As we walk our life as Christians, we should understand the importance of living appropriately according to what God has called us to do. Living wisely is not a natural thing to do because we will need supernatural help from Someone who is all-knowing. We must realize that wisdom is not just an intellectual thing. It is also supposed to be lived by. If we have the proper knowledge of God, we will live wisely.

Lord, You are All-knowing and All-powerful. I praise You for Your wondrous works. I pray to grow more in love with You. Please give me wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and discernment so I may live according to what You have called me to do. Thank You that is Your desire for me to live wisely and that You will help me live in a way that honors You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Pray to be fully dependent on God

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

For God’s purpose to prevail, we must learn the beauty of surrender. Trusting Him with all our hearts is declaring God’s sovereignty. It is accepting, with all humility, that we cannot live apart from Him. We must submit all our desires and be fully dependent upon His guidance. After all, why would we not trust Someone Who knows the past, present, and future?

Father God in heaven, I praise You. I pray that I will always choose to trust You will all my heart. Please help me realize and see the little things that stop me from doing so. Remove every bit of my pride, and replace it with humility that will put You first over everything. Thank You because You are blessing me more than what I ask for. In Jesus’ name, amen.
