Rest in His Unfailing Power

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26

We often define our identity with our achievements and circumstances. We forget that we are human beings who will always fall short. But at the end of the day, we have to remember that we were first His children before we became students, employees, spouses, parents, or friends. That though our strength and courage may fail, it’s okay. After all, we can always rest in His unfailing power.

Neither one of us is perfect. The right people will hurt you. You may be courageous most of the time, but there will be a time when you will be weak. You may be physically fit, but you can still be sick. All of these are inevitable. But that doesn’t mean He will fail us. We can rely on Him because He is our strength and the source of our identity. And so we must carry ourselves like beloved, strong children of a mighty King.

Pray to accept your weaknesses

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

If we understand that we cannot do everything ourselves, we will realize that our weakness perfects His power. Yes, we cannot rely on our strength, but we can rest on Him because He is all-powerful. If we were blessed with great strength, we wouldn’t find ourselves asking for His help. So understand that there will be countless times when you will get weary and fail.

Father God, I thank You because You’ve made me just as I am. I pray that I will always recognize my weakness in my highs and lows. Please reveal my lapses and shortcomings as I navigate life. I humbly come before You today to admit that I will always fall short of Your glory. But that doesn’t mean that my identity is tied to what I have achieved in life. Thank You, because after all my imperfections, You still regard me as Your child. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Pray to acknowledge the strength of God

“But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.” Psalm 59:16

Through our brokenness, we realize we cannot fight adversities in life alone. When we turn to God amid trials, we learn to be at peace with ourselves, the people around us, and Him. We will easily get tired and worn out when we lean on our own understanding. But if we regard Him as our Rock and Refuge, we will always find rest and comfort in His arms.

Almighty Lord, I am nothing without You. My strength is nothing compared to Your weakness. Please forgive me for the times I tried to rely on my own strength. I just failed and got worn out. But now I know the importance of depending on Your strength alone. I pray that I will always acknowledge Your strength and power all the days of my life. Thank You for the peace, joy, comfort, and rest you will give in return. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Pray to represent Him well

“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” John 1:12

To be called His child is both a privilege and an honor. Believing in His name is probably the most beautiful beginning of an endless journey. But we have to realize that we have a purpose to fulfill: to carry ourselves as Christ’s ambassadors. It is only by grace through faith that we are capable of becoming His child, so we must live Godly lives every day.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of becoming Your child. I want to live my life for You. I want to live a life that honors You. Please help me represent You well every day of my life. Help me obey all your commands so people will see You in the way I think and act. Father, I pray to be more like Christ. Allow the Holy Spirit to work within me so I can live out Your Word and fulfill Your will. Thank You for everything. In Jesus’ name, amen.
